You can see Mt. Rushmore from Highway 244 without having to pay to get into the park.

Seeing this sign gave me a sense of thrill that I was about to see something iconic.

It kinda makes you feel like you're crossing the border.

There's no entrance fee for Mt. Rushmore, but there is a parking fee of $11.00 per vehicle, and the only way you can get there is by vehicle.

This parking tag is attached to your motorcycle, and allows you to re-enter the park throughout the year, except who in the Hell wants this ugly thing stuck to their bike for a year?

There's a neat little museum that tells the story of how Mt. Rushmore was carved, along with mock-ups of various designs, and tells you about the "secret vault" intended to store the nation's documents.

  3. You are absolutely right, no need to pay to see. My brother and I arrived there late afternoon and they wanted the fee for each one of us, I don't think it's fair, 2 bikes can easily park in one stop. It's always the same, bikers get shafted. We told them screw it and went to the parking area on the side of the road where you can see just as well.
