Clients Come First
Lately, I've been feeling like George Bailey trying to leave Bedford Falls. One thing after the other comes up and I can't go. I realize we had originally planned to leave April 15 but getting out of our apartment early excited me so that I thought perhaps we would begin riding sooner. But the Universe in all of it's infinite wisdom has other plans. We've picked up a few clients, which is always good. Our business, Too Much Tina Media, trains people to build a blog that brings in advertising income. All of our past clients are very happy with our work and have websites that are advertiser worthy, making an income. We've been building sites like these for years and love helping others do what we do. The beauty of our life is the freedom that working online gives us so we can take trips like Road Pickle. But adding the "consulting" portion to our business has us teaching folks one-on-one, which takes some face-to-face time. Right now, that's where we are with these clients.
We've had to postpone our actual launch until April 19. I love working with others and I love what we do, but the wait was hard for me to accept. We are staying in a motel in San Diego for now, spending as much time with clients as we can, working everyday and tying up loose ends. But now that it's been decided and a date set, I'm really excited to have an actual countdown.
My daughter's wedding is on April 20 in Bakersfield, CA. She is my one and only child and I'm thrilled that she and her fiance are getting married. I wouldn't miss it for the world! So we will leave San Diego April 19, head to Bakersfield, then leave on the trip April 21. Until then we're enjoying a few last days in the city we plan to make our permanent home.
We had a wonderful dinner at Fred's Mexican Cafe in Old Town on Thursday night with our new assistant. For some indescribable reason, we always gravitate to Fred's. The food is great, the Horney Grandma Margaritas are delicious (according to Highway), and we love the atmosphere on their patio. When visiting San Diego, Old Town is a must and Fred's should be your first stop.
We've also enjoyed working at The Village 631. Our favorite breakfast stop along with free wifi and lovely ambiance, The Village 631 is truly inspiring as it is filled with local art and a serenity of the crowd that fills the restaurant. We find that we will work for 5 straight hours there without looking up to see the time. After a hearty breakfast and hot tea, time just flies at our laptops. The Village 631 is in East Village on 9th and boasts an amazing menu, along with wine, craft beers and unbelievable desserts.
Staying in San Diego in March and enjoying perfect weather is nothing to complain about. I'm just itching to get on the road and see new sights. But as with any business, right now, our clients come first.

ReplyDeleteactually, you have a good problem. It would be a bad problem if your phone didn't ring. Less than 3 weeks until "lift off" and we don't even know which direction you are headed. At least we know it isn't WEST, nor SOUTH.
Have a good time at your Daughter's wedding . . .
