Mesilla, NM ~ The Plaza of Mesilla

Quaint gift shops filled with delicate jewelry, toys and clothes for kids, and artwork from local craftsman dot the streets along with restaurants and historical plaques. At one time, lawlessness ruled these same streets with everything you've ever seen in old Western movies going on right here. Gunfights, horse thieves and fear amidst a struggling society of hard-working people existed here for nearly a century.
What remains is a well restored, well preserved Plaza rich with authenticity and accurate accountings of the day to day life of the early residents.
New Mexico sounds amazing. Thank you so much for showing us all the small town places with such unique and interesting historical tidbits.
ReplyDeleteYour travels are appreciated. You have inspired me to go to New Mexico this summer...even though it will probably be oppressively hot.
