Central Ohio: Hocking Hills by Motorcycle

Sash and I had never visited Ohio before, and all we could envision about the Buckeye State was vast expanses of flat land and straight roads.
It didn't seem like a place for great motorcycle riding.

We couldn't have been any more wrong.

While there is indeed a lot of farm land, and while it's not very mountainous, the 17th State is full of rolling hills, shady forests and twisting roads along creek beds.  You just wouldn't know it by looking at a map.  You have to hook up with a local group of riders and have them take you out for a tour.

And we managed to do just that.

Adventures in Sexuality is Central Ohio's most active group supporting the pursuit of "kink", be it in the form of polyamory, BDSM, dominance & submission, and other lifestyle expressions.  Several members also happen to be motorcycle riders and often get together for group outings.

We learned of an organized ride they were doing where the public was invited to attend.  And since we had planned to be in Central Ohio during the same time, it worked out perfect for Sash and I.

The ride would take us along the smaller roads connecting tiny farming towns together, running along creeks, rolling over hills, and tunneling through thick growth forests.  Our destination would be Millstone BBQ in Logan, a highly popular eatery for motorcycle riders.

Afternoon temperatures couldn't have been any better, offering the right balance for t-shirt riding.

Barak & Sheba took turns leading the ride, maintaining a comfortable pace, taking us past some of the most beautiful country we had ever seen in the 3+ months of being on the road.  Old colonial style brick buildings lining the Main streets of small farm towns, ponds of lily pads and cattails, old graveyards, and red wooden barns seemed to stroll past us in endless supplies.

Two other riders, Luke and Jared, followed right behind Barak & Sheba in tight formation, as if they've been riding with them for some time.

There must have been 100 bikes parked outside of Millstone BBQ around 1:30 PM.  Located inside the Hocking Hills region, Millstone BBQ seems to embrace its biker clientele, putting on bike nights every Tuesday night.  Several of us had their KC Style Pork Ribs, which were nothing short of amazing.

Barak & Sheba told us about Adventures in Sexuality and described several of their upcoming events and conferences.  A lot of what they do with AIS is to encourage couples to heighten their relationships by broadening their sexual horizons and creating new friendships within the kink community.

Before the end of the day, we stopped at Graeter's Ice Cream in Pickerington to satisfy our sweet-tooths, and then to say our goodbyes.

Sash and I headed back to our hotel room feeling as if we really got a great look at Central Ohio along with some great riding we'd never discover if not for tagging along with a group of local riders.
