Metuchen, NJ: Teach McNeil and Free BBQ

sash and highway
After spending five days hibernating in our hotel room in East Brunswick, NJ, Sash and I felt it was time to get some sunshine and finally see some stuff in the Garden State.

Chris, who heard about us from another online forum, messaged me and mentioned that Cross Country Powersports, a motorcycle dealer in nearby Metuchen, was having a free BBQ and stunt show, and would love to meet us.  So we saddled up on our bikes and headed out.

The ride itself was less than 10 miles, and there wasn't any sunshine, just a sprinkling of rain.  But we got there and met Chris.  Chris drove his car there after having his beloved BMW RR1000 stolen the night before.  We wasn't all that happy (and who would), but there at the dealer he already had his eyes on another bike, a Ducati 1098.

Chris introduced us to his riding buddies, and after we talked about bikes and shared stories of our travels, we parted ways leaving Sash and I to watch Teach McNeil do some stunt riding on a pair of BMW bikes.

Right as the stunt show ended, a friend of ours that we met last week, and a fellow motorcycle blogger, George Ferreira showed up.  George attends this very same event each year.  Since Sash and I really haven't done any scenic riding in New Jersey, he offered to lead us around some of the better roads in the Central part of the State.

After the ride, we ended up at George's house where his beautiful wife Fatima cooked up an awesome spread of BBQ ribs, burgers, corn on the cob, and potato salad.  His daughter chipped in by baking a ginger bread cake.  George showed us his "project bike" a 1979 Suzuki GS750.

It wasn't until 10:30 PM that we finally returned to our hotel room.
